Home › Retreats › Muay Thai Training Camp in Chiang Mai: Two Daily Sessions at a Hillside Gym
Chiang Mai · 7 days · From EUR 350
A typical day starts early. You'll be at the gym for the morning session (roughly two hours), which usually goes: skip rope to warm up, shadow boxing, then pad work with a trainer, heavy bag rounds, and clinch work. Then it's back to your room for breakfast, a shower and a nap.
Afternoons are free until around 4-5pm, when the second session runs. This one is often a bit more technical or conditioning-focused — more bag work, more clinching, sometimes sparring if you're at that level. You finish in the early evening, eat dinner, and you're usually in bed by 9 or 10pm because you're tired. That's the whole rhythm of the week.
What makes this different from a lot of Muay Thai camps is the setting. The gym sits in a green, hilly area outside central Chiang Mai rather than on a busy tourist strip, so it's quiet between sessions, and you can actually rest. On days off (or between sessions if you skip one), guests usually head into the old city for temples, markets or a cooking class, or hire a scooter and go up to Doi Suthep.
Chiang Mai itself is the second-largest city in Thailand, in the mountains of the north. It's cooler than Bangkok or the islands, the food is different (khao soi, sai ua sausage, northern curries), and there's a big expat and digital-nomad scene if you want company in the evenings. Flights from Bangkok take about an hour, and the gym can arrange airport pickup.
Accommodation-wise, you're staying on-site in simple, clean rooms — the sort of place built for people who are training twice a day and just need air conditioning, a hot shower and a bed. There's a restaurant on-site for meals between sessions. This isn't a resort retreat with infinity pools; it's a training camp, and it's priced accordingly.
