Home › Retreats › Muay Thai Training Camp in La Palma with World Champion Coaching
Canary Islands · 7 days · From EUR 899
Training happens twice a day for most guests. Mornings are conditioning: running or hiking through La Palma's green, jungle-like terrain, led with enough energy that people describe the runs as adventures rather than punishment. Then you're in the gym for Muay Thai. Pad work is done 1:1 with the elite coaches, which means your technique gets corrected in real time rather than lost in a group of thirty. Sessions cover striking techniques, timing, technical sparring, kicking and defence, knees and elbows, and clinch work. Some guests also train with the local team at VKR Sports Club, so you're working with people who compete, not just other holidaymakers.
What separates this camp from a typical fight-camp holiday is the coaching. Kru Pedro has nearly 40 years in combat sports and is the person who built Muay Thai and boxing on La Palma, producing national and international champions. His background spans Muay Thai, boxing, K-1 and MMA, and he also works as a professional cutman in the corner, brings in sports nutrition including certified weight-cutting guidance, and runs a high-performance approach. Joanna Nadolska is a World Championship medallist in gold and silver, a Spanish Championship medallist, Polish Championship silver medallist and Canary Islands champion who has fought across Europe and Thailand. She handles strength and conditioning, works extensively with women, and leads the morning sessions.
The camp also brings in outside expertise. Seminars have been run with names like Anuwat, Saenchai, Dieselnoi and Hoost, so if you're there during one of those, you're learning from people who shaped the sport. The page is direct that they don't produce "weekend-made experts" and that they teach traditional Muay Thai rather than a watered-down version.
La Palma itself is a UNESCO biosphere reserve, nicknamed Isla Bonita, with volcanic mountains, laurel forest and black-sand coastline all within a short drive. Training is combined with exploring the island, and the comfort package adds a Sunday island trip and picnic. The climate means you can train outdoors most of the year, and the location is a short flight from mainland Europe with no visa requirements for EU travellers and no time-zone adjustment worth worrying about.
Accommodation is in traditional Canary Islands style, with private rooms. Guests on the basic package share an apartment or hostel near the gym, the comfort package gives you a private apartment, and the elite package puts you in private accommodation in Santa Cruz de La Palma with all meals included and shuttle transfers from La Palma Airport. You can book any length of stay, not just the standard seven days, and the booking calendar calculates your exact price.
