Home › Retreats › Muay Thai Training Camp in Rural Thailand with Yoga & Recovery
Thailand · 7 days · From EUR 520
A typical day starts early. Morning training runs around two hours and covers skipping, shadow boxing, pad work with a trainer, bag work and clinching, finishing with conditioning. After breakfast and a rest, the afternoon session repeats the structure, often ending with a run or a swim. In between, there's time to eat, sleep, get a massage or use the pool and ice bath. Evenings are free — some guests walk to the local market, others eat at the camp and go to bed early because the next session starts at 7am.
The Wellness package fills the gaps between training with yoga and meditation, and adds organised days out. There is a cultural trip to meet a local monk, temple tours, a cooking class, a jungle hike, a waterfall swim, a lake trip, a Buddha Run and a night market visit. The Fitness package keeps the focus on Muay Thai and strength work but still includes the Buddha Run, waterfall swim, lake trip and night market. Both run for seven days, and the schedule is published as subject to change.
What separates this camp from the dozens of Muay Thai gyms in Phuket, Chiang Mai or Koh Phangan is location. Phetchabun is farming country, not a beach town, and there are no bars or tourist strips nearby. Guests describe it as an authentic rural setting where the training is the point. The camp has ten trainers in total, all Thai, most with stadium experience, and they're used to working with complete beginners as well as people who have trained before.
Training is capped in the sense that coaching is one-to-one during pad rounds — you get a trainer holding pads for you, correcting your technique, and setting the pace to your level. Group classes handle the conditioning, skipping and bag work. If you want to spar, that's arranged with people at a similar level rather than thrown in cold.
The food is cooked at the camp and is Thai: curries, stir-fries, rice, soups, fruit, and plenty of it, adjusted so you can train twice a day without running out of energy. Dietary needs are handled on request. Rooms are simple and comfortable, on site, with the gym, pool and dining area a short walk away.
Evenings and rest time are genuinely quiet. That's either the appeal or it isn't — people who want nightlife should look elsewhere, and people who want to wake up, train, eat, sleep and repeat tend to book a second week before they leave.
