Home › Retreats › Muay Thai Training Retreats: Costa Rica, Thailand & New York with Champion Sean Fagan
United States · 7 days · From USD 1695
Every trip is built the same way: real training in the morning and often again in the afternoon, then the destination in between. At FitKoh in Thailand you get 10 training days across 11 nights, with combat strength work, kettlebells on the beach, ice baths, breathwork, yoga and mobility sessions mixed in. Two of those evenings are spent at live stadium fight nights. You'll be there over Songkran, the Thai New Year water festival, which means one full day on Chaweng Beach Road with the rest of the group.
In Costa Rica the setup is different — you're at Jungle's Edge Resort in Nosara, an eco-focused property on the edge of the jungle with a saltwater infinity pool that's been ranked one of the 10 coolest in the world. Mornings start with pro-led yoga, then two Muay Thai sessions a day, with BJJ open mats and a surf lesson included. Meals are three a day plus a post-workout tropical smoothie. Evenings include beach bonfires, sunset watch parties and group excursions.
The New Paltz weekend is the shortest and the most private — Sean's home turf, 90 minutes from NYC. You get two private lessons with him, one group session at Gambit Fighting, and you stay in a private studio on his property. Hikes at River to Ridge and Mohonk, brunch and dinners at local spots, and all ground transport are included. It's built for people who can't take a full week off.
Morocco is the newest addition — a boutique stone hotel on the Atlantic, seven training days, morning Muay Thai with sea views, morning surf in the Atlantic swell, oceanside partner drills and light sparring, and yoga at sunset. Between sessions there's a guide for local excursions, plus time in the souks and medinas and tagine dinners with the group. Dates and pricing haven't been announced yet.
What separates these from a standard training camp is the coaching. Sean started under JJ Russo at Stockade Muay Thai in Kingston, NY, at the tail end of a boxing career. He went on to compete on Lion Fight, fight on national Thai TV, win two amateur championships (one with a broken arm) and take a title at Madison Square Garden. He's been coaching full-time for over a decade and his YouTube channel, Muay Thai Guy, has reached millions of fighters and hobbyists. On these trips you get him holding the pads for you directly, not a rotating cast of local trainers.
Group sizes vary by destination: 15-30 on the Thailand and Costa Rica trips, 10-15 in Morocco, and just 1-2 people on the New Paltz weekend. Past guests have ranged from complete beginners to people with a decade in the gym, and the FAQ notes that guests in their 50s and 60s regularly attend.
