Muay Thai Training Retreats with a Pro Fighter: Costa Rica, Thailand, Morocco & New York

United States · 7 days · From EUR 1695

Sean Fagan started Muay Thai under JJ Russo at Stockade Muay Thai in Kingston, New York, at the tail end of a boxing career. He went on to compete over 30 times, fought on Lion Fight and on national Thai television, won two amateur championships (one of them with a broken arm) and took a title at Madison Square Garden. He retired from fighting and went full-time into coaching. His YouTube channel and Muay Thai Guy brand have reached millions of fighters and hobbyists, and these trips are how he puts that same instruction in front of a room of students for a full week at a time.

The Costa Rica trip is the most polished of the four. It runs 7 nights at Jungle's Edge Resort in Nosara, all-inclusive, with two Muay Thai sessions daily, morning yoga led by a pro instructor, open BJJ, a surf lesson or a full-body massage, and three meals a day plus a post-workout tropical smoothie. The pool is a saltwater infinity job that has been listed among the ten coolest in the world. Off the mat there are waterfall hikes, beach bonfires and sunset watch parties. Group size runs 15–30 and dates are January 2027, from $2,195 per person.

Thailand is the flagship and the longest: 11 nights at FitKoh in Ban Tai on Koh Samui, ten training days, two live stadium fight nights, combat strength and kettlebell sessions on the beach, ice baths, breathwork, yoga and mobility work, a sunset boat trip and a waterfall hike. It lands over Songkran, so you celebrate the Thai New Year on Chaweng Beach Road with the group. Group size is 15–30, April 2027, from ,695.

Morocco is the newest and still being finalised — dates and pricing are TBD for 2027. It's 7 nights at a boutique stone hotel on the Atlantic coast, with Muay Thai and surf in the mornings, yoga at sunset, oceanside partner drills and light sparring, plus guided excursions and tagine dinners with the group. Group size is 10–15, which makes it the smallest of the international trips.

The New Paltz weekend is the one for people who can't take a full week. You fly into NYC, drive 90 minutes upstate, train with Sean at his home gym, stay in a private studio on his property, and you're back to real life by Sunday night. That package is 2 nights, 1–2 people, from ,995, with two private Muay Thai lessons, one group session at Gambit Fighting, hikes at River to Ridge and Mohonk, and brunch, dinners and drinks at local spots.

Across all four trips the pattern is the same: real training in the morning and evening, and the rest of the day built around whatever makes the destination worth flying to — hikes, waterfalls, beaches, boat trips and long meals with your coach and the rest of the group.
