Muay Thai & Yoga Retreat in Costa Rica's Jungle: All-Inclusive 7-Day Escape

Costa Rica · 7 days · From EUR 1800

A typical day starts with a Muay Thai session, usually in the morning before it gets too hot. You'll warm up, then work through technique — stance, footwork, the basic strikes, then partner drills on pads and gloves. Sean runs these sessions himself and keeps class sizes small, so you get corrected on the details rather than just hitting pads in a crowd. After breakfast, there's a yoga class, then the afternoon is free: the group often heads to a beach, walks to a waterfall, or goes into town for lunch.

The second training session comes later in the day — again 90 minutes of technique, drills and controlled sparring. Because the sessions build through the week, by day four or five you're putting combinations together and sparring light with people you've been drilling with all week. Nobody is made to spar hard, and nobody is made to fight — this retreat doesn't include a fight, unlike the Thailand camps.

The retreat is all-inclusive in the way that actually matters: seven nights at The Jungles Edge, three meals a day, two Muay Thai sessions a day, daily yoga, group tours and hikes, and transport to and from the gym and beaches. You cover your flights, airport shuttle and anything personal like laundry or extra drinks in town.

Costa Rica itself does a lot of the work here. Nosara is on the Pacific coast of the Nicoya Peninsula, an area known for long beaches, consistent surf and howler monkeys that wake you before your alarm. The group typically gets out to a waterfall, up to a viewpoint or castle, and to at least one beach that takes a bit of effort to reach. The food is local and largely organic, cooked at the property, with plenty of fruit.

What separates this from a week at a Muay Thai gym back home is the group setup. Everyone starts and finishes on the same dates, eats together, travels to sessions together and does the trips together. You're not dropped into an established gym class where everyone already knows each other. Couples and friends can also come on a non-training package — one person trains while the other relaxes by the pool or beach, priced individually.
