Myth and Yoga Week on Amorgos: Sun, Stone and Spirit with Kelly Fisher

The week runs from 28 May to 3 June 2027. Kelly Fisher, who has taught yoga and meditation for more than 25 years and directs the Yoga Center of Columbia, leads every session. She is a certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) and E-RYT 500, and she builds the week around storytelling: a different myth or story from the ancient texts each day, with a discussion of how it relates to ordinary human experience.

A typical morning begins with the Gayatri Mantra or another traditional chant, followed by guided and silent meditation focused on the breath. After a short break there is a full-length alignment-based Hatha Yoga practice to build strength, flexibility, balance and agility. The evening session is gentler: restorative poses, myofascial release work, and guided relaxation or Yoga Nidra.

What separates this from a generic Greek island yoga week is the pairing of myth with practice, and the setting. Amorgos is rugged and uncrowded, with hiking trails between hilltop villages and the Monastery of Hozoviotissa built into a cliff 300 metres above the sea. Agia Anna beach, where The Big Blue was filmed, is a short trip away. The hotel has an outdoor pool, a spa with sauna, hammam and jacuzzi, and an indoor heated seawater pool.

All sessions are optional. Free time each day is yours: walk into Aegiali for coffee, take a trail, book a spa treatment or an excursion through the hotel concierge, or stay by the pool. The hotel chefs cook fresh Mediterranean food for all three meals and can accommodate dietary needs.
