Europe · 8 days · From USD 2499
This is a retreat that moves. You'll travel overland in a Land Cruiser, sleep in glamping tents and guesthouses, and cook meals together around campfires. It's a self-catering adventure, so after a first stop at the supermarket, the group shares cooking duties (they call it karma yoga). Mornings often start with a sunrise yoga session, sometimes on the dunes themselves, and evenings wind down with restorative practice before dinner under a sky thick with stars. The itinerary is packed, but there's also free time to wander, rest, or simply sit with the landscape.
The first leg takes you to Sossusvlei, gateway to the Namib Desert—the oldest desert on Earth. Here you'll climb the famous Dune 45 at sunrise, hike up the massive Big Daddy dune, and wander through the eerie, ancient clay pan of Deadvlei, where skeletal camel thorn trees stand against a blazing red backdrop. Then it's on to Swakopmund, a quirky German-colonial town on the Atlantic, where you'll trade sand for a 90-minute quad tour along the Skeleton Coast, a stretch of coastline littered with shipwrecks and home to seal colonies and desert elephants.
The final chapter is Etosha National Park, one of Africa's great game reserves. With over 200 mammal species and 600 bird species, you'll spend two full days on safari drives, hoping to spot lions, elephants, rhinos, and the park's famous salt pan that's visible from space. Guide Mao, a local with 15 years of experience, will track wildlife and share stories about the Himba, Bushmen, and Herero people, as well as the region's geology and history. Tia, a California-born yoga teacher with Caribbean and German roots, brings a warm, inclusive style to her classes—whether it's a challenging vinyasa flow or a gentle yin session.
This retreat is for the traveller who wants more than a beach holiday. It's for the person who's curious about Africa, open to a bit of roughing it, and ready to connect with nature in a profound way. The group is small—between 2 and 8 people—so you'll get personal attention both in yoga and on safari. You'll leave with a clearer head, a softer heart, and memories of landscapes and wildlife that will stay with you long after you're home.
