Nature Yoga & Somatics Retreat in Estonia: Muhu Island Slow Week

Estonia · 6 days

A typical day starts at 08:00 with an optional self-practice meditation or a morning swim. The guided morning session runs 08:30–10:00 and might be somatics, flow yoga, QiGong, breath practices or meditation, depending on the day. Breakfast/brunch is at 10:00, lunch at 14:00, then the evening practice runs 17:00–18:30 and leans more towards somatics, yin yoga, restorative yoga or freeform movement. Dinner is at 19:00. After that it's free time, a sauna night, yoga nidra, or an optional before-bedtime meditation. Some evenings the session starts earlier and includes a talk or an introduction to the theme of that class.

Liina's teaching comes from a mix of studies in movement and meditation, and her own practice. Her classes are meant to give you options — you're encouraged to listen to your own body rather than match a shape someone else is making. Past participants have described it as rewarding in a way that lasts longer than classes with a predetermined structure. She also offers massage, and there's a hot tub at the property.

Muhu itself is worth the trip. The island is 207 km² with a population of around 2,000, and access is straightforward: a bus from Tallinn Coach station to Kuivastu takes about 2h50min including a 25-minute ferry from Virtsu on the mainland. The retreat team picks you up at the Kuivastu bus stop. Muhu Namaste is 6.6 km from the port, in Simisti village. There's a bridge to the larger island of Saaremaa if you want to stay on and explore.

Check-in is after 3pm on the start date, with the programme beginning at 6pm yoga and 7:30pm dinner. Check-out is after breakfast, around 11am. Accommodation is all shared: four rooms with double or twin beds (your choice), one room with four beds, one room with three beds, and one double room with en-suite WC. All other rooms use shared toilets and showers, which are modern and clean. Single rooms are limited and cost an extra 250€.

The price covers five nights of accommodation, three vegetarian meals a day, all yoga and movement classes, bike use, yoga mats and props, two sauna nights, and pick-up/drop-off at Kuivastu seaport. It doesn't cover the one dinner at the local fish restaurant, flights, or travel insurance. The retreat fee itself is yet to be announced.
