Nepal Trekking and Yoga Retreat to Annapurna Base Camp

Nepal · 10 days · From USD 827

This is a trekking retreat with yoga as its anchor, not a yoga retreat with a walk thrown in. You'll cover roughly 60 kilometres on foot over six days, climbing from 1400 meters in Kathmandu to 4130 meters at Annapurna Base Camp, before descending back the way you came. The trail passes through Gurung villages where you'll share tea with locals, crosses suspension bridges over milky glacial rivers, and eventually reaches the treeline where the landscape opens up to bare rock and snow. Each day follows a similar rhythm—an early start, several hours of walking, and a yoga or meditation session either side of the day's effort.

Sunil leads the trip. He's a certified Hatha yoga teacher who has been practicing for twelve years and guiding treks in Nepal for much of that time. His approach is practical: he adapts the yoga to your level and to the altitude, keeping sessions short and functional when you're at 4000 meters. Guest reviews mention how careful he is with pace and comfort, and with safety on the mountain—one solo traveller described him as making her 'feel safe and beautifully held'. He also brings the landscape to life, pointing out the history and stories behind the villages and peaks along the way.

Accommodation is split between two worlds. In Kathmandu and Pokhara, you stay in 3-star tourist-class hotels with private bathrooms, wifi, and air conditioning (though you'll mainly use the hotels to rest and repack). On the trail, you stay in basic teahouses—shared rooms with thin walls and simple beds, where a hot shower is a luxury you sometimes pay extra for. That contrast is part of the charm: you earn the simplicity after a day of walking, and the yoga helps you settle into it.

What sets this retreat apart from a standard Annapurna trek is the way the yoga infuses the whole week. Rather than collapsing into bed after a long day, you sit for evening meditation; rather than rushing off in the morning, you move through a few rounds of sun salutations to loosen your legs. It's a slower, more intentional way to do a classic trek, and the result is that you come off the mountain feeling stretched, not just tired.
