Umbria · 7 days
A typical day starts with Pilates before breakfast, taught by Linda Farrell in the house's studio space. Mat work is the core of it, with some sculpt, barre and stretching mixed in depending on the group. Linda watches and corrects individually, which is the reason people come back to her classes rather than following videos at home.
Breakfast follows, then the middle of the day is unscheduled. You can walk into the nearest town, swim, read, or take a longer hike in the hills. Some afternoons there is a second, shorter session — often something gentler such as yoga, qi gong or guided meditation, all of which Linda also teaches.
Evenings are dinner at the house, cooked from local produce, eaten together. The week is built so that you are not training hard every single day; there is room to rest, and nobody will mind if you skip a session.
What separates this from a generic Pilates holiday is Linda's background. She has been running Pilates mat teacher trainings since 2004, more than 65 of them, and holds the NCPT certification. That means the teaching is precise and the corrections are specific to your body, not a script.
Umbria in late August and early September is warm and dry, with the olive groves and vineyards at their fullest. The house sits in the countryside, so the days are quiet apart from birds and the occasional tractor.
