Days are split between taught sessions and your own writing. Mornings usually start with a group session on structure, character or dialogue, run by the retreat leaders, followed by a writing block before lunch. Afternoons are protected writing time, with one-to-one feedback slots available.

After dinner the group gathers to hear pages read aloud. Hearing your script in other people's voices is the fastest way to find out what is working, and it is the part most people say changed their draft.

The setting does a lot of the work. Weston Park has a long gallery, a library and formal gardens, plus miles of paths through the parkland. When a scene stalls, you can walk it out.

This is not a beginners' creative writing course and it is not a general sightseeing break. It is for people who already have an idea, an outline or a half-finished draft and want uninterrupted time plus professional eyes on it.
