Home › Retreats › Rainforest Wellness Escape: Yoga, Sound Baths & Caribbean Nature
Costa Rica · 7 days · From EUR 1500
The retreat is built into a hillside of rainforest above the Caribbean, with the main lodge, yoga deck, and guest accommodation spread out among the trees. Days typically start early because the light and the birds make it easy. A yoga class runs most mornings on the open deck, followed by breakfast. From there, guests choose what they want: a guided forest walk, a sound bath session, a massage, or nothing at all. Lunch is on-site, and afternoons are left open for excursions — the national parks and waterfalls, the indigenous reserves in the area, a zip line course, or a drive into Puerto Viejo for the beach, shops, and restaurants.
What separates this from a standard beach resort is the location. You are not on the sand; you're up in the trees, and the property is designed around that. Forest bathing here isn't a marketing term — it's a slow walk on maintained trails with someone who knows the plants and animals, and it's the most common thing guests end up doing on repeat. The sound baths use singing bowls and are held in the evening, usually outdoors. Meditation sessions are short and undemanding, aimed at people who don't already have a practice.
If you want structure, the team will build it for you. The standard stays are all-inclusive packages that bundle accommodation, meals, yoga, and a set number of activities, but you can also book a room alone and add food, classes, hikes, and massages as you go. Customised programmes are available on request — people often come here during a life transition, a bout of burnout, or after a loss, and want something more tailored than the standard week.
The team on-site is Costa Rican and long-tenured, which matters more than it sounds: they know which trails are passable after rain, which beaches to avoid on which days, and which local guides are worth the money. Transfers from San José or the local airstrip can be arranged, and the property handles logistics for excursions so you're not piecing together transport yourself.
It's worth being clear about what this isn't. There's no gym, no fitness programming, no weight-loss focus, and no alcohol-fuelled social scene. It's a rainforest retreat for rest, yoga, and time outdoors, and it works best for people who are fine with quiet, early nights, and a lot of insects.
