Home › Retreats › Restorative Yoga Escape on Croatia's Dalmatian Coast: Daily Movement, Island Exploration & Adriatic Swims
Dalmatia · 7 days · From USD 1800
Joanna Dunn has been running yoga retreats for years, and the Croatia week is the one she comes back to most often. She partners with Drishti Journeys to handle logistics on Brač, which means ground transport, the hotel, and the excursions are taken care of — you just show up and practice.
Mornings begin on the hotel patio with an all-levels class. These are not gentle-only sessions; they build in complexity across the week, so by day five you're doing more than you were on day one. That said, every pose has a modification, and Joanna teaches to mixed ages and abilities in the same room. Expect an emphasis on mindful movement and body awareness rather than pushing into shapes.
Afternoons are mostly yours. The hotel is a short walk from the water, and people swim almost daily. The group also takes a few organised outings — a boat or van to a historic village, a visit to an olive oil press where they still use centuries-old methods, and long Mediterranean lunches that stretch into the afternoon. At least two afternoons are left open so you can either stay local or book something bigger off the island.
Evenings close with a restorative practice — slower, floor-based, designed to settle you before dinner. Then the group walks to a local konoba for dinner together. Shared meals are a big part of why people describe this week as much about the group as the yoga.
What sets this apart from a standard yoga holiday is the teaching. Joanna has trained extensively in restorative and adaptive yoga, including work specifically for older bodies and people with limited mobility. She's also known for her meditation series and her Feldenkrais-informed classes. If you've been put off by retreats that assume a certain age or fitness level, this one is built differently. It's also small enough that she knows everyone's name and adjusts the class on the spot.
