Home › Retreats › Rhineland Movement, Art & Nature Retreat: Yoga and Culture Immersion in Düsseldorf
Düsseldorf · 3 days · From EUR 450
The setting is Alexandra's own studio in Düsseldorf, which shares its space with Wildpalms, an exhibition and event space. That pairing is the thing that makes these weekends different from a normal city yoga retreat — you're not in a dedicated wellness centre, you're in a working creative building where art is being shown and made, and the retreat programme is built to make use of it. Sessions run in the studio itself and in the Wildpalms exhibition space, so depending on what's on, you might practise next to an installation.
A typical day starts with yoga, then breakfast, either at The HENRI if you've booked the hotel option or at home if you're local. The middle of the day is given over to whatever the theme of that particular immersion is — a workshop, a visit somewhere in the city, a walk or excursion into the surrounding Rhineland countryside, or time in the exhibition space. There's a second yoga or mindfulness session later in the day, and lunch and dinner are eaten together as a group. One day of each retreat swaps the second session for a longer workshop.
Alexandra is from Düsseldorf and designs these weekends around places she actually uses and knows — that's the point of the series. She describes the Rhineland as somewhere she wants to show people properly rather than through the usual tourist stops, and the programme reflects that: art and culture, the city itself, and the nature on its doorstep, all folded in around the movement practice. Expect to be on your feet and out of the studio for part of each day rather than doing six hours of asana.
Food is included in the form of lunch and dinner every day, plus breakfast at The HENRI if you've taken the hotel option. The hotel has a large open kitchen and is known for its breakfast, which is one reason it's the recommended place to stay — it's a couple of minutes' walk from the studio, so you're not commuting across the city between sessions.
Group sizes are kept small and places go on a first-come, first-served basis, with bookings made directly by email or through the studio's shop. Prices vary depending on how long the immersion runs and which of the three booking options you choose — local, HENRI single room, or HENRI double room — so the exact figure is confirmed when you reserve. Note that 30% of the price is non-refundable if you cancel.
