Sacred Valley Yoga & Andean Ceremony Retreat in Peru

Sacred Valley Yoga & Andean Ceremony Retreat in Peru

Peru · 6 days · From EUR 2200

The retreat is based entirely at Samadhi Retreat Center in El Valle Sagrado, a property built into a hillside with bungalows spiralling down the slope, each one set among flower gardens and looking out over the Andes. Reviews from past guests mention fields of hummingbirds, rainbows and clear night skies, plus the ancient ruins visible from the grounds. The centre has its own cafe serving smoothies and treats, and a hot tub for soaking after activities.

A typical day starts with a morning yoga class before breakfast. Classes are led by Hannah Adams, who first taught yoga while living in Cusco and whose background includes professional salsa dancing, competitive boxing and spoken word poetry. Her sessions focus heavily on breath and flow state, with creative transitions between poses and a demanding but approachable pace. Evenings close with a second class. Across the week these are supplemented by a handstand workshop, a sound healing and roses ceremony with Lorena Valdés, a cacao ceremony and despacho (a traditional Andean offering), a trek to local ruins, a Peruvian cooking class doubling as an art therapy workshop, and a soak in the hot tub.

What separates this from a standard yoga week is how much of the schedule is tied to the place itself. The ceremonies are led by local practitioners, the trek goes to actual Inca sites near the property, and past guests consistently single out the cultural side of the trip as the part they didn't expect to matter most. The family who runs Samadhi are also part of the experience — guests have recommended asking Eduardo and Oracio to take you out for a nearby hike.

The rooming structure keeps the group small. Shared bungalows hold three people each with two twin beds and one full bed, the Double Suite is for two guests sharing a private bathroom, and the Single Suite is for one guest (or two sharing one bed) with its own living room. That means the whole retreat runs as an intimate group, which is part of why past participants describe connecting quickly with people they arrived not knowing.

Food is vegetarian and sourced locally, served three times a day, with smoothies and other items available at the on-site cafe. Meals are included in the price. The property is immaculately kept according to reviews, and the bungalows are designed around the seven chakras, spiralling down the hill.

Getting there is straightforward: the group meets at Cusco's Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport at 10:30am on June 26, 2027, for a 90-minute private van transfer that's included in the price. Cusco sits at about 11,000 feet and the Sacred Valley at around 9,000 feet, so arriving a day early to acclimatise is worth considering. Passports must be valid for six months beyond the arrival date.
