Greece · 8 days · From USD 990
This retreat is the brainchild of ALT Travel LTD, a family-run charter company that has been sailing the Greek seas since 1984. For the past seven years, they've combined their sailing expertise with daily yoga practice, and it's clear they've perfected the formula. The yoga sessions are led by professional instructors (Luisa is one of the regulars), and they're designed to be accessible to all levels—whether you're a seasoned practitioner or just starting out. You'll practice on the beach, in a quiet olive grove, or on the deck of the boat, always with the sound of the sea nearby.
The real magic, though, is the daily sailing. You'll cast off from Alimos or Kallithea Marina in Athens and head into the Saronic Gulf, but the exact route is flexible. The skipper checks the weather forecast and chooses the itinerary that promises the best conditions—sometimes heading to the Cyclades (Kythnos, Syros, Kea) in the cooler months, and sticking to the Saronic islands (Aegina, Poros, Hydra, Agistri, Methana) in July and August. This flexibility means you might visit the ancient theatre of Epidaurus, take a thermal bath at the Pafsanias springs, or snorkel over the sunken city of Ancient Epidaurus.
What sets this trip apart is the balance between activity and rest. You'll sail for two to four hours each day, which is just enough to enjoy the journey without feeling rushed. Afternoons are often free for swimming, sunbathing on the deck, or exploring the town on your own. Evenings are spent together at a taverna, sharing stories and plates of tzatziki and grilled octopus. The boat itself is your home for the week—it's fully equipped with a dinghy, hot water (when in port), a gas cooker, and plenty of safety gear. Space is limited, so you'll learn to live simply and lightly, which is part of the charm.
One detail that regular guests appreciate is the emphasis on small groups. With a maximum of eight guests, the experience feels personal and unhurried. You'll be traveling with a mix of solo travelers, couples, and friends, many of whom are on their first sailing adventure. The crew is there to make you feel welcome and safe, and they're happy to teach you a few knots or let you take the helm. By the end of the week, you'll feel like a proper sailor—and maybe even a yogi.
