Scottish Highlands Wellness Retreat: Trail Runs, Yoga and a Luxury Eco-Cabin

United Kingdom · 3 days

Caroline and Andy run these retreats themselves and set the programme around what you want to get out of the weekend. Before you arrive, they'll talk through your goals and put together an itinerary and activity plan that fits you. That means if you're a runner looking to build distance, you'll spend more time on trails; if you want to mix things up, you might do more body conditioning and yoga. Either way, expect to be outside a lot, using the Scottish countryside as your training ground.

The activities include running, body conditioning and yoga. Sessions are led by Caroline and Andy, who have years of experience coaching in this setting and clearly know the terrain. The outdoor work is guided, so you're not just left to run laps of a field — you'll be taken to spots that make the most of the landscape, whether that's a trail through woodland or a quiet stretch with a view.

A typical day starts with something active before breakfast, then a proper break, then more movement in the afternoon — possibly a yoga session or a guided walk. Because the programme is personalised, no two retreats look exactly the same, but the shape is consistent: two nights, several sessions, plenty of fresh air. You'll also have downtime to sit by the fire pit, use the hammock in the woods, or just read by the stove.

What sets this apart from bigger retreats is the scale. There's no group of twenty doing the same class. It's you and whoever you bring, with the hosts' full attention. The cabin is also genuinely off-grid in feel — no central heating, a wood-burning stove, hot water bottles if it's cold — but it's a comfortable, modern eco-build, not a bothy. That balance of comfort and rawness is a big part of the appeal.

The location is rural Scotland, with views over the surrounding countryside. You'll be encouraged to leave your phone alone and live at a slower pace between sessions. It's a two-night stay, so it works as a short reset rather than a full week away. Everything is arranged directly with Caroline and Andy, and you can book through their website.

If you're after a fitness retreat that feels more like staying at a friend's place in the country — with proper coaching and real outdoor training — this is it. The fact that you cook your own meal from provided ingredients is part of the deal: it keeps the focus on simple, nutritious food without a chef hovering.
