Home › Retreats › Sea-View Fitness Holidays & Weight Loss Camps in Dénia, Spain
Alicante · 7 days · From EUR 1400
Óscar Pereiro grew up playing football in Spain and played as a professional, including a spell in northern Europe. He and Kim set up these camps near Dénia partly to bring people to the area they live in and partly because, after his own career, Óscar kept seeing people come back from generic detox holidays having lost water weight and put it straight back on. The approach here is ketosis-led: most guests run on low-carb, moderate-protein, higher-fat meals for the length of their stay, which tends to mean quick early results and a proper appetite for the food you're given.
Training is twice a day, not all day. Mornings are the bigger block — cardio intervals, resistance work, circuits — either at the gym or outdoors on the coast road and beach. Late morning or early afternoon you'll have your second session: strength, core, a hike, or a coached swim in the sea depending on the day and the weather. Afternoons are deliberately open. Guests typically walk into Dénia's old town, use the pool, read, or sleep. It's a busier schedule than a yoga week; it's still nothing like the 5am military-style camps.
The food is a genuine selling point, and it isn't camp food. Kim cooks, and much of the produce comes from their garden, with fish and meat bought locally. Guests have reported sea bass baked with local vegetables, spinach and ricotta dishes, homemade soups, omelettes and shakshuka-style eggs, and fruit from the trees outside. Alcohol is off the menu for the stay. Portion sizes are controlled but nobody leaves the table hungry.
Accommodation is in a house near the sea with shared and private room options, a pool and free wifi. Dénia itself is a real town, not a purpose-built resort — a castle, tapas streets, a marina, ferries to Ibiza and Mallorca, and the Montgó natural park behind it. On rest afternoons or the free day you can be on a beach, halfway up a mountain, or in the market within twenty minutes of the front door.
The camp is run in small groups and coached directly by Óscar, who does the fitness tests, sets the targets and takes the personal training sessions himself. Guests who want a specific goal — a sport season, a weight target, coming back from injury — can message ahead of booking and the programme will be adjusted before arrival. That's the main reason people rebook: you're not dropped into a template, and the trainer knows your name by the first meal.
