Home › Retreats › Six-Day Pranayama & Breathwork Teacher Training on Koh Samui
Koh Samui · 6 days · From USD 823
The course is structured as a 50-hour teacher training, which works out to roughly six full days once you add the arrival and departure days. Each day starts with meditation at 7:30, then a pranayama class, then Hatha yoga. Brunch is around 10:30. The afternoon is your own until about 2 pm, when the theory or workshop session starts. That block covers the respiratory system, the science of breath, bandhas and mudras, and the full set of classical techniques—Kapalabhati, Nadi Shodana, Ujjayi, Sheetali, Bhramari, and the rest. Evenings bring a second pranayama class, Yin yoga, dinner, and an hour of questions and sharing.
What makes this different from a general yoga retreat is the single-subject focus. You are not just practicing pranayama; you are learning how to teach it, how to explain the anatomy of breathing, and how to sequence a breathwork session. That requires some prior yoga background—the course is aimed at people who have done a 200-hour YTT—but the teaching is thorough enough that you leave feeling confident to run your own classes.
Simona has been teaching since the 1990s and has trained in India, Ireland, and Thailand, including a Hatha Yoga Teacher Training at the Sivananda Meenakshi Ashram in Tamil Nadu. She has taught at Six Senses and Four Seasons resorts and opened her own yoga center in Dublin before moving to Thailand permanently. On Koh Samui she runs the retreat from a studio in Taling Ngam, a quiet spot that has just enough restaurants and cafés to make a pleasant afternoon out.
The course keeps the group small—between two and eight people—which means the teaching can be tailored to each student. Reviews consistently mention the personal attention, the family-like atmosphere, and, time and again, the food. Simona is a vegan chef who cooks everything herself, and several reviewers say her cooking alone is worth the trip.
