Slovenia · 7 days · From EUR 1295
Mornings start with a 90-minute yoga class, usually vinyasa or a slower hatha flow depending on the group. The teacher will adjust the sequence to who is in the room, so beginners and more experienced students practice side by side. After breakfast, most days include a guided walk or hike — expect two to three hours on forest paths and meadow trails, with stops for views and water. The terrain is rolling rather than technical, but you will want proper shoes.
Afternoons are free. You can use the natural swimming pool, book a sauna session, read on the terrace, or walk into the surrounding meadows. Some guests use the time for a second, self-led practice in the yoga shala; mats and props are available. On one afternoon there is usually a longer excursion, often to Lake Bled or a nearby gorge, and on another there is a cooking session or a guided relaxation workshop. The exact schedule shifts depending on the weather and the group.
Evening meals are vegetarian and cooked on site, using produce from the estate garden where possible. Dinner is a set menu, eaten together at a long table, and the kitchen can handle gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan diets if you tell them in advance. After dinner, most people drift to the fire pit or the lounge, and there is often an optional evening meditation or restorative class before bed.
What separates this from a standard yoga retreat is the land. The venue owns 23 acres, and you are free to roam all of it — there are marked footpaths, a natural swimming pond, and enough space that you can find a private spot for sitting or stretching. It is also genuinely rural: the nearest village is small, and the night sky is dark. If you want a retreat where you never leave the property, that works here. If you want to hire a car and explore Slovenia on your free afternoons, that also works.
The teaching team rotates, but the lead instructors are all Adventure Yogi regulars with British Wheel of Yoga or Yoga Alliance certification and at least five years of group teaching experience. They tend to be people who hike as well as teach, which matters on a retreat where half the schedule happens outdoors. Classes are in English. Group sizes are typically 10–16, which means the teacher can give individual adjustments in most sessions.
Slovenia itself is the other draw. It is small enough that you can see a lot in a week: Lake Bled and Lake Bohinj are both reachable on a free afternoon, the Julian Alps are on the doorstep, and Ljubljana is an hour away by road. The retreat is based in the countryside, so you will need a car or a transfer to get to the lakes, but the staff can help arrange taxis or a group trip.
