Sound Healing and Frequency Certification: 15 Days in Rishikesh

The core of the training is hands-on work with sound tools. Expect plenty of hours with singing bowls: how to strike and rim them, how to place them on and around the body, and how to build a full sound session from start to finish. Tuning fork therapy is a major strand of the course. That covers weighted and unweighted forks, where to apply them, and how to use them in a one-to-one treatment.

Breathwork runs alongside the sound work. Pranayama and breath practices are taught as a skill in their own right and as a way to prepare yourself and a client before a session. Silence and awareness practices, such as meditation and quiet sitting, are built into the schedule too. Listening is half of sound healing, and the course treats it that way.

What sets this course apart from a short sound bath workshop is the length and the practicum. Over 100 hours you go past basic technique into frequency theory, session design and practising on fellow students under supervision. By the end you should be able to run a group sound bath and a one-to-one treatment on your own.

The course is taught by Damini Sargam International Academy, a Rishikesh-based school that specialises in sound and energy healing. It runs a ladder of courses, from a 6-day 30-hour introduction up to a 21-day multi-modality training and a 30-day energy healing programme. The 100-hour course sits in the middle, and there is also a version that adds Ayurveda.

Rishikesh is known worldwide as a yoga town. It's walkable, full of cafés, and quiet compared with most Indian cities. Days off and free afternoons are easy to fill: cross the Laxman Jhula or Ram Jhula bridges, visit ashrams and temples, hike to waterfalls in the surrounding hills, or join the evening Ganga aarti at Triveni Ghat or Parmarth Niketan.
