South Goa Yoga & Wellness Escape: Beachside Yoga Retreat with Vegan Meals and Daily Classes

India · 7 days · From EUR 550

Earth Yoga Village sits in Colomb, on the road between Patnem and Palolem in South Goa. It's a Yoga Alliance registered school (RYS 200) that has been running for more than 11 years, and it hosts both long teacher trainings and shorter yoga holidays on the same site — so retreat guests practice alongside trainees. The whole property is plant-based and eco-focused: vegan food cooked in the village kitchen, two open-air shalas surrounded by greenery, and no phone-at-the-dining-table energy.

On the yoga holiday, you get daily asana classes plus workshops, meditation and the occasional restorative session. Classes are taught by the school's teaching team — names that come up repeatedly in guest reviews include Anand (who runs the school and selects the teachers), Karolina, Kathrin and Durgesh. Styles span Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin and Yoga Nidra, and the schedule balances the physical practice (asana, anatomy) with the philosophical side of yoga. If you're on a shorter retreat you can join in alongside the teacher-training group, which is how several past guests described their week.

The food is one of the things guests mention most. Everything is cooked fresh on site, vegan and largely gluten-free and preservative-free. Reviewers describe it as plentiful — several note they never went hungry despite a packed schedule. Expect curries, dals, rice, fresh vegetables, salads and fruit, with enough variety across the week that it doesn't feel repetitive.

Rooms are simple: shared dorms (one past guest shared a 4-bed dorm and described it as "super cute and comfortable") and private options. Earplugs and an eye mask are worth packing if you're a light sleeper, since the village wakes early. The property is a 5–7 minute walk from two beaches, and there's a strip of cafes and restaurants nearby along the Patnem–Palolem road if you want to eat out or rent a scooter.

Getting there: Goa has two airports — Dabolim (67 km) and MOPA (110 km). The nearest train station is Canacona, about 2 km away; Madgaon Junction is roughly an hour. Buses run every 30 minutes between Canacona and Margao, and the school can arrange a taxi pick-up on request. From the Patnem–Palolem road, you take the right turn near the mosque and continue about 100 metres — the village is on the left.
