Home › Retreats › Spring Equinox Yoga, Sound & Detox Escape in Panama's Cloud Forest
Panama · 5 days · From USD 2899
Mornings tend to begin early — around 6am yoga and meditation in the studio, which looks straight out into the forest. Breakfast and dinner are vegan and homemade, cooked around what's in season on the farm and from local growers; one guest wrote that any non-vegan 'could be persuaded to convert.' Between the guided sessions there's a lot of deliberately empty space in the schedule, which is the point: you're meant to walk the trails, read, journal, or do nothing.
What sets this apart from a standard yoga week is the elemental structure. Each day focuses on one element and the activities follow it — the 'Air' day, for example, is a hike up a mountain to the top of a waterfall. Drew runs sound healing with crystal bowls, which guests consistently single out as the most powerful part of their stay. There's also mindful creative work and reflection practices woven in, plus the coffee side of things: this is a working organic coffee farm, so you learn about cascara, coffee infusions and the farm's history as well as drinking very good cups of it.
Sara leads the yoga and meditation. Guests describe her as putting complete beginners at ease while still giving experienced practitioners somewhere to go — one returning guest said Sara 'saw something in me that I was avoiding and shared it with me kindly.' Drew handles the sound work and frames it as feeling through things rather than thinking through them. They host from their own home ethos: the whole project started at their house in New York's Hudson Valley and they've carried that lived-in, un-institutional feel to Panama.
The location is Eco Horqueta, a certified organic coffee farm about 20 minutes from the mountain town of Boquete in the Chiriquí highlands. It's cloud forest — cool mornings, misty afternoons, crisp air — with hiking trails on the property and attractions like local markets, coffee tours and hot springs nearby. The nearest airport is Enrique Malek International (DAV) in David, roughly an hour away, and return transfers are included.
There are three tiers. Foundation gives you the core retreat — accommodation, meals, yoga, meditation, group sound healing, the coffee experience and lots of free time. Immersion adds a private 1:1 session, a curated excursion and an extra guided experience. Signature is the fully handled version with an expanded 1:1, more excursions and all planned experiences included. Duo rates are available if you share a bungalow with a partner or friend.
If you want a retreat that measures its success by how much you did, this isn't it. It's built for people — particularly those who spend their lives holding space for others — who need permission to slow all the way down in a beautiful, quiet place.
