Sri Lanka · 11 days · From USD 2949
Sri Lanka is too varied to stay in one place, so this trip moves. The first few days are spent at Arana Eco Lodge above Ella, in the middle of tea country. You'll wake up to mountain views from bed, eat open-air, and spend the days hiking to viewpoints at sunrise, doing yoga in the hills, and choosing between the scenic train ride, a tea estate visit, or a Sri Lankan cooking class. Monkeys sometimes join breakfast.
The middle of the trip is the transfer south, which doubles as a mini safari: a dawn game drive in Udawalawe National Park, known for its elephants. Then you arrive at Dreamsea Ahangama on the south coast, a beachfront property that SALTY buys out entirely. It has a pool, restaurant, movement space, volleyball court, and the surf break out front. From here, the routine is simple: workout, surf, yoga, eat, repeat. Sessions include strength, MetCon, boxing, sand sprints, ocean swims, beachfront circuits, and rooftop flows. Yoga runs morning and sunset. Surfing happens every day for those who want it, with a thorough beginner package that includes 10+ hours of instruction.
What makes this trip different from a single-resort fitness retreat is the range: you get highland hikes and tea country, a wildlife safari, and a surf-focused beach week in one go. The group is capped at 20, and about 65% of guests come alone. The vibe is active and social — nights often end with group dinners and sometimes dancing. It's not a luxury trip, but it's comfortable: eco lodge with hand-built porches in Ella, then a beachfront property with a pool on the coast.
The SALTY crew leads the fitness sessions. The brand's slogan is "Make fun of wellness," and the training reflects that: hard but playful, with burpees on the beach after you've crossed tea country and a safari. The trip includes accommodation, transport across all regions, training, surf lessons (if you choose the package), the safari, and most meals. Flights to Colombo are not included, but scheduled shuttles from the airport are.
If you've had Sri Lanka on your list but didn't want to plan it alone, this is a way to cover a lot of ground with a group. You'll finish knowing more than just the beach.
