Home › Retreats › Strength & Fitness Camp in the Tyrolean Alps – Gym, Sauna & Mountain Air
Austria · 7 days
The gym at Tirol-Camp is 65 m² and set up for proper training rather than a token hotel fitness corner. You'll find treadmills, an elliptical stepper, a rowing machine and a cycling trainer for cardio, plus back and abdominal machines, leg extension and multi-station units, shoulder and back stations, a chest and triceps station, and a biceps/triceps and abductors station. There are numerous free weights and dumbbells, an electronic balance board, step boards and exercise mats. Opening hours are 8am to noon and 2pm to 9pm daily.
If you don't know how to use a machine, staff will walk you through it on request. You can also hire a personal trainer for one-to-one sessions, which is useful if you want a structured week rather than making it up as you go. The changing rooms have showers, and the studio equipment is kept in good condition.
Guests typically train in the morning, eat lunch, then head out for a walk or bike ride in the Tyrolean mountains in the afternoon before a second session in the evening. The energy fountain is a popular short outing if you want something gentle between workouts. Massage and beauty treatments are available on site for recovery.
Because the gym is open to non-overnight guests (day ticket €5, monthly €40, season €120), there's a steady local membership training alongside you, which gives the place a normal gym atmosphere rather than a retreat bubble. That suits people who want to train seriously without a scheduled group programme dictating every hour.
This isn't a structured retreat with a set timetable of classes — you build your own week. What the camp provides is the equipment, the accommodation, the food and the setting, and you decide how hard to go. That makes it a good fit for independent athletes, cyclists, hikers and anyone who wants a fitness-focused holiday in the Alps without joining a group.
