Surf Camp and Beachfront Stay on Puerto Rico's West Coast

Puerto Rico · 7 days · From EUR 915

The surf school has been running in Rincón longer than any other, and the instructors are described on the site as watermen who coach everyone from first-timers to advanced surfers. Lessons come in three shapes: private group lessons, one-on-one private lessons, and guided surf adventures where a coach takes you to the breaks that are working that day. The stated goal isn't just getting you standing on a board — it's sending you home knowing more about the sport, which is why guided adventures are offered alongside straight lessons. A single lesson starts at 20 per person, or you can add lessons to any resort stay.

A typical day starts with breakfast, then a surf session timed around the swell and tide — the coaches pick the beach based on conditions, which is the main reason to go with a school rather than just renting a board. Sandy Beach is directly across from the property, and the school accesses the best spots on the Caribbean side of the island. Afternoon sessions, board rentals (shortboards, longboards and fun shapes, daily or long-term), or a break by the pool are all on the table. The Kahuna Burger Bar serves food and drinks at the resort, and there's a surf market on site for gear, beer and ice.

What sets this apart from a generic surf camp is the concierge desk. Rincón Vacations sits inside the resort and books the rest of your trip: sailing charters, parasailing, jet ski rentals, ATV tours, sea kayaking, zip lines, horseback riding and trips to the bioluminescent bay. There's also yoga and massage available on site, and fishing charters run out of the local marina. If someone in your group doesn't surf, or if the surf goes flat, there's a full itinerary to fall back on without leaving the property to organise it.

The property itself is Casa Verde, with Superior Rooms, Penthouse suites (newly upgraded, with ocean views) and a standalone vacation home with a private pool. It's a relaxed, social setup — the kind of place where guests hang out at the pool and swap notes with surfers from other countries in the evening. Rincón is a rural, hilly area with limited walking access, so a rental car is worth organising; the resort recommends picking one up at Aguadilla or San Juan.

Getting here is straightforward. Aguadilla's Rafael Hernández Airport (BQN) is 20 minutes away and served daily by JetBlue, United and Spirit, so it's the easy option from the US East Coast. San Juan (SJU) is cheaper from the West Coast but adds a 2.5-hour drive. Airport shuttles can be arranged through the front desk. The resort's own address isn't recognised by most GPS systems, so the site publishes turn-by-turn directions — worth printing or screenshotting before you drive.
