Home › Retreats › Surf Camp Australia: Learn to Surf at 7 Mile Beach, Gerroa
New South Wales · 2 days
Surf Camp Australia has been running learn-to-surf camps since 1999 and is owner-operated. The camp sits at 7 Mile Beach in Gerroa, inside Seven Mile Beach National Park, which the operator describes as beginner paradise. Transport is included, so you do not need to arrange your own way there.
Coaching is by Australian-qualified instructors, and the programme is pitched at beginner to intermediate surfers. You start on softboards, which are easier to learn on, and wear Rip Curl wetsuits that keep you warm year-round. The aim is progressive: build skills and confidence over the days you are there rather than just getting pushed into waves.
Accommodation is in cosy cabins close to the beach. There is a Surf Camp House option with private Queen or twin rooms if you prefer not to share. Meals are cooked at camp, which matters when you are surfing twice a day and working up an appetite.
Beyond the water, the camp is set up for hanging out. There is space to relax in the sun or shade, and wildlife is part of the experience: dolphins, kangaroos and the resident Surf Camp possum all make appearances. Everyone gets free photos and an after-movie, and a Rip Curl voucher for 15% off.
The camp runs a busy calendar through 2026, with two-day weekenders, three-day and five-day camps, and seven-day specials over Christmas and New Year. You can come alone or with friends; either way, the setup makes it easy to meet people.
