Morocco · 7 days · From EUR 469
Aloha Surf Camp is a surf school and surf house on a hill overlooking the ocean, 14 km north of Agadir and 15 minutes south of Taghazout. It faces eight surf spots directly and sits within reach of roughly thirty more in a 50 km radius. The camp has been operating for ten years and runs all year round, seven days a week.
The surfing is the point of the trip. Qualified instructors run coaching sessions and track your level day by day, so a complete beginner and a surfer working on cutbacks get different things out of the same week. Boards are made from high-quality materials and professionally maintained. The camp's own break, Crocro, is a beach break with several peaks right in front of the property — an easy place to improve wave reading and sand-bottom surfing. Devil's Rock, a small beach between two rocky outcrops, is almost always surfable and works for all levels. Spider is a reef break that throws a barrel running up to 100 metres toward Banana Point.
Further out, the camp drives to spots to suit the day's conditions. Panorama unrolls over three sections and has a beginner-friendly third section. Hash Point is a technical little wedge in front of Taghazout village. Anchor Point is the iconic right, a long slab wave that needs a consistent swell or high tidal coefficients. Killer Point is a long right on slabs that, at 1.5 m and above, can link its three sections into a 300-metre ride. Imsouane, an hour away, holds the Grand Bay — one of the longest rights in the world, with rides of up to two minutes at low and mid tide.
The camp itself is a surf house with Moroccan decor, built for comfort and conviviality. Rooms are clean and most have an ocean view. Dinners are hearty and typical, served on a terrace with a view of the sunset over the ocean. The team is led by manager Abdessamad, with Medhi and Hamid among the staff guests consistently mention for their welcome. The whole team is bilingual in French and English.
Taghazout is the most privileged site in Morocco for surfing and the region has a micro-climate with around 330 days of sunshine a year. Water temperature runs 17–19°C in winter and 22–25°C in summer. The best swell period is October to April, though several local beach breaks work all year round.
