Home › Retreats › Surf & Yoga Beach Retreat in Andalusia's Costa de la Luz
Andalusia · 6 days · From EUR 800
El Palmar sits on Andalusia's Costa de la Luz, where the Atlantic swells roll in from Africa and the beaches stay uncrowded even in summer. The village itself is tiny — a handful of streets, a few surf schools, and not much else. That's the point.
La Luz isn't one camp but three properties within easy walking distance: La Luz Lodge for couples, singles and friends; La Luz Casitas for families with younger kids (each house has its own garden); and Casa de Cuore, a larger house for groups of up to 11. All share access to the café, the yoga sessions, and the surf programme.
Surf lessons cover everything from first-time pop-ups to longboard technique — they run a specific longboard retreat for anyone wanting to work on nose-riding and classic style. Yoga classes balance out the surfing, and there's an on-site Spanish course if you want to learn more than just "una caña, por favor."
Tom and Moni have been running La Luz for years, building a loyal crew of returning guests and a local Spanish team who treat the place like home. The food is fresh, mostly organic, and leans Mediterranean — expect plenty of local produce, homemade cakes, and long communal dinners. Evenings often end around the fire pit with a guitar, a DJ set from Javi Selassie, or just good conversation.
