Surf & Yoga Escape: Taghazout Surf Camp in Morocco

This is a seven-night surf and yoga camp in Taghazout, on Morocco's Atlantic coast about 30 minutes north of Agadir. The format is straightforward: surf in the morning, eat, rest, yoga in the late afternoon, dinner, sleep, repeat. Seven surf lessons and six yoga classes are included across the week. The lodge sits close enough to the breaks that you're not losing half the day in a van, and the heated pool is where most people end up between sessions.

The surf coaching is aimed at all levels. Instructors take beginners through the fundamentals — paddling, pop-up timing, reading a wave — and work with more experienced surfers on turning, positioning and wave selection. Taghazout has a run of well-known points nearby (Anchor Point being the famous one), but the camp picks spots that match the group's level each day rather than dragging everyone to the heaviest break.

The yoga is ocean-view and designed to complement the surfing rather than be a separate thing. Expect hip openers, shoulder work and plenty of stretching for the muscles you've been using in the water. Six sessions across the week, usually in the late afternoon.

Food is full board, cooked at the lodge — traditional Moroccan cooking, usually a tagine or grilled fish, with breakfast and a packed or beach lunch. The cocktail bar and terrace are where the evenings happen. The camp is open year-round, which is worth knowing if you're looking at a winter trip; Morocco stays mild when Europe does not.
