Home › Retreats › Swiss Alps Yoga & Hiking Retreat in Verbier
Switzerland · 6 days · From USD 3970
The retreat runs 1–6 August 2027. You fly into Geneva (GVA) by 31 July if possible — the retreat team recommends arriving a day early to buffer against delays and jet lag. On 1 August you travel to Verbier by train: about 3.5 hours from Geneva Airport around Lake Geneva, with two trains and a cable car up to the village. The W Verbier sits directly in front of you as you step off the gondola. If you prefer, the hotel can arrange an airport shuttle. Checkout on the final morning is at 11:00, after a farewell yoga session and brunch.
Each day follows a similar rhythm. You start with yoga — Lisa leads gentle stretch and flow, and she and Svetlana alternate depending on the intensity of that day's hike. On some days a 20-minute guided meditation is added. Then you head out: Svetlana, a Verbier local, guides the hike. The terrain is moderate with some slight steep grades, and the group takes gondolas or chairlifts up from the valley base to reach the trails. Routes are chosen for the group's level. The full-day hike includes a local lunch; other days you have brunch at the hotel and can grab lunch in the village or at a mountain lodge if you're hungry. Dinners are at the W Verbier restaurant, where the menu changes with the season and uses regional ingredients.
What sets this apart from a generic alpine yoga week is the guide pairing. Svetlana isn't a visiting instructor — she lives in Verbier and has worked with thousands of clients on posture, injury healing, and movement, with a background in Pilates, personal training, classical ballet, and Tibetan Buddhist meditation. She also leads a movement session on the mountain during the week. Lisa, who is co-owner of the retreat company and has taught in Verbier before, brings a gentle flow style and a meditation practice; she's described as whimsical and light-hearted, and teaches techniques guests can use after the trip. Between them, the yoga is matched to how hard you hiked that day rather than running a fixed sequence.
Afternoons are free. You can book a spa treatment (book ahead and mention you're with the retreat in case discounts apply), swim in the indoor-outdoor pool, or take the free fitness centre. Verbier village is a short walk for a cocktail or coffee. Paragliding with Verbier Summits is a popular add-on — August offers good tandem-flight conditions over the valley. Cycling and e-bike routes through the mountain trails are another option for guests who want more than hiking. The hotel also has a fireplace and balcony in every room, so an evening nightcap back in the room is part of the routine if you want it.
The W Verbier is known for its contemporary design and has been listed among the world's best ski hotels for its location and service; the summer version trades snow for wildflowers and long trails. The hotel's two restaurants and bar handle meals and drinks. The retreat keeps common spaces low-tech — the team asks guests to leave devices in rooms so the shared areas stay social. Wi-Fi is available in rooms and on the grounds, and Verbier has cell service. Swiss francs are the local currency, though many shops and stations accept euros; cards work at the hotel for spa and extras.
