Tuscan Hills Holistic Wellness Retreat with Yoga, Spa & Infinity Pools

Villa Petriolo is a working estate — vineyards, olive trees, green hills — and the wellness programme is tied directly to what grows there. The spa treatments use raw materials from the territory, and the property is developing its own line of cosmetic products for guests to take home. This is the thing that separates it from a generic hotel spa: the massage oils and scrubs are not bought in, they come from the land the villa stands on.

The wellness centre is open daily from 10:00 to 19:00, so treatments can be booked across the day. The centre handles its own reservations separately from the hotel, which means you can arrange your massage schedule around whatever else you plan to do. Expect the classic range of massages and holistic treatments, studied in detail rather than run off a laminated menu.

Water is a big part of the setup. There are two swimming pools plus a whirlpool, and the main infinity pool looks out over the hills and vineyards of the estate. They use modern recirculation systems to cut water waste, in keeping with the property's environmental approach. Loungers and shade are provided, and it is quiet — this is not a pool with a DJ.

For anyone who wants to train, there is an outdoor fitness centre equipped with TechnoGym machines, positioned outside the main building. It is modest but properly equipped, and the setting — training outdoors in Tuscany — is the point.

Yoga and meditation run in the grounds, in the green, with hosted teachers who build courses around the guests present that week: their bodies, their experience levels, their preferences. Sessions lean towards reconnecting with nature rather than hitting a fixed sequence, and the teachers adjust accordingly. Between the yoga, the pools, the gym and the spa, a week here can be as active or as lazy as you like.

Rooms and suites are in the villa itself and its outbuildings, and the estate is also home to a restaurant serving the region's food and wine. Cerreto Guidi is a small Tuscan town; Florence, Lucca, Pisa and the Chianti wine road are all reachable for day trips.
