Weight Loss and Muay Thai Retreat in Thailand

Weight Loss and Muay Thai Retreat in Thailand

Thailand · 14 days

The programme runs on a fixed daily structure. Mornings start at 08:00 with an hour of Muay Thai focused on weight loss, followed by functional training and then boxing. There's a break in the middle of the day, then training picks up again at 16:00 with another functional session and two hours of either Western boxing or Muay Thai. It's a two-a-day schedule, six days a week, and it's the same for everyone on the weight loss programme regardless of experience — beginners get taught from scratch.

What sets this camp apart from a standard fitness retreat is the mix of disciplines in one day: Muay Thai, Western boxing and functional training, all at a dedicated martial arts camp rather than a hotel gym. The trainers are described as patient with complete beginners — Stephanie had never done Muay Thai before and said they took the time to explain everything without judging her level. The camp also runs specialist courses in BJJ and MMA, so the coaching depth is real, not just a holiday add-on.

The camp is located in Huai Yai, in the Banglamung district of Chonburi, Thailand — a quiet, peaceful neighbourhood with a lake not far away where guests can walk or run outside of class hours. It's not a beachfront resort; it's a working training camp with an on-site kitchen and accommodation, and guests eat and train together throughout the day.

Meals are cooked by the camp's own kitchen team, led by women Stephanie describes as sweet, always smiling and very good cooks. Thai food features heavily, and the weight loss programme comes with a specific diet regimen. Stephanie's take was that it didn't feel like a diet — portions and dishes are adjusted for the programme, but the food is normal Thai cooking rather than a separate 'diet menu'. Dietary requirements should be discussed directly with the camp before booking.

A typical guest here is someone who wants to lose weight through structured martial arts and functional training rather than a spa-and-yoga format. Stephanie, 44 and a first-timer in Thailand, is representative: solo travellers, beginners and people who've drifted away from fitness all fit. The camp also runs boxing, Muay Thai, self-defence and BJJ courses, so the atmosphere is a mix of weight-loss guests and people training for fight skills. Guests stay in camp accommodation and the social side — shared meals, group walks, evening downtime — is a big part of why people like Stephanie say they'd come back.
