Wellness & Discovery Retreat: Yoga, Meditation and Cultural Immersion in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka · 8 days · From USD 4797

The retreat is built around a rhythm of morning and evening practice, with the middle of the day left open for exploration or rest. Mornings start early with a meditative walk (depending on the season and sunrise), followed by a yoga and pranayama session overlooking either the mountains or the ocean. Afternoons bring the day's excursion or a workshop—things like a mixology session where you learn the art of juicing and tasting, or an emotional wellbeing workshop. Evenings finish with guided meditation, sometimes a sharing circle, and dinner in a beautiful setting.

What makes this different from a standard yoga retreat is the combination of two locations and the cultural programme. You're not just practicing in one studio—you're moving from a plantation house in the hills to a boutique resort on the coast, and in between you're visiting a working tea and cinnamon estate, meeting local farmers and tasting their fruit, exploring the Dutch colonial architecture of Galle Fort, and stopping at the Sri Sudharmalaya Buddhist Temple. There's also a cold bath experience, which the organisers describe as a booster for the circulatory, immune, and digestive systems.

The teaching is led by Thomas, a certified Wim Hof Method instructor with a background in diving and a long history of outdoor sports. He brings a practical, grounded approach to the yoga and breathwork. Myriam Desboeufs, the founder, comes from a sporting background herself and designs the overall programme. The group is small enough that you get personal attention, and the schedule has enough flexibility that you can dial your own intensity up or down.

The food is a big part of the experience. All meals are vegetarian, with a focus on fresh, unprocessed, plant-based ingredients—the organisers say around 50% of the food is raw. It's light and designed to support the detox side of the retreat, but it's substantial enough that you won't be hungry. You'll eat at Glenross Living and Aditya Resort, both of which have kitchens that cater to the retreat group.
