Home › Retreats › Wellness Escape in Bali with Yoga and Spa Treatments
Indonesia · 8 days · From USD 1564
The retreat takes place at Puri Bagus Lovina, a four-star beachfront resort on Bali's northern coast. The property is built in traditional Balinese style, with thatched roofs and manicured gardens. The beach is quiet and the pace of life is slow, which makes it easy to switch off. The yoga shala is where the daily classes happen, led by a local teacher named Kadek, who has a gentle, personal approach and often tailors classes to whoever shows up.
Each day starts with a 60-minute yoga session at the shala. Kadek teaches Hatha with touches of Vinyasa, and she is especially good with beginners. After yoga, breakfast is served at the Saraswati Restaurant, with healthy juices included. The rest of the morning and most of the afternoon are free. Some guests use this time to book extra spa treatments, others walk into the nearby town of Lovina, and some just lie by the pool or on the beach. Afternoon tea is served between three and four at the Saraswati bar.
The package includes three set dinners with a choice of healthy, vegetarian, vegan, or raw dishes. There is also one complimentary cultural activity—you can choose between making offerings and going for a temple blessing, or playing the Rindik, a traditional bamboo instrument, with local musicians. On top of that, the retreat includes a 60-minute Balinese massage, a 150-minute Lovina Heaven spa treatment, and a 90-minute after-sun body and hair care treatment, so there is a spa element spread across the week.
What stands out about this retreat is how optional everything is. The schedule lists yoga and spa appointments, but there is no pressure to attend anything. It is a good fit for solo female travelers, who have left many of the reviews, and for couples or friends who want a relaxing beach holiday with a bit of yoga built in. The resort is also family-friendly, with some connecting rooms available. The yoga teacher, Kadek, has a warm personality and a background as a spa therapist, which comes through in her caring approach to teaching.
Lovina itself is a laid-back coastal area, known for its calm sea and dolphin-watching trips in the morning. While this retreat does not include excursions beyond the cultural activity, it is easy to arrange boat trips or day tours to nearby waterfalls or the Gitgit area. For guests who want a balance of yoga, spa, culture, and free time, this retreat offers that mix in a setting that feels a long way from the busier parts of Bali.
