Wellness Escape in the Aeolian Islands: Daily Yoga, Pilates and Thalasso Spa by the Sea

Sicily · 7 days

The programme runs Monday to Sunday, with classes spread across the day so you can build your own rhythm. Instructors take the Meditative Walk in the mornings, then Wake Up Yoga and Integral Yoga, with Pilates Class and Total Body Workout in the mix. Later in the day there's Yoga Dance Flow, and Restorative Yoga in the evenings — that's the one to book if you've spent the afternoon hiking or swimming. Every class is marked with a star system: beginner, intermediate or advanced, so you know what you're walking into.

Classes are usually held outdoors on the hill, with the Aeolian Islands visible on the horizon, often timed around sunset. If the weather turns, everything moves indoors to the fitness room on the upper floor of the Thalasso Spa. Mats are provided; you bring your own towel.

This is different from a dedicated yoga retreat because it's a full resort with a thalassotherapy spa, a Hair Experience salon, and seawater-based treatments. The thalasso programmes are the resort's main wellness offer, and the yoga and Pilates sit alongside them rather than replacing them. You can spend the morning in a seawater treatment and the evening in Yoga Dance Flow without it feeling like you're double-booking.

What makes it work is the location. The Aeolian Islands sit off the coast of Sicily, and the resort is built around that view — the outdoor classes on the hill are timed to catch the light, and the sunset sessions in particular are the reason people plan their day around the timetable.

The class descriptions are genuinely useful when choosing. Meditative Walking is a slow, quiet amble — not a hike. Wake Up Yoga is gentle and meant to wake the body up. Integral Yoga is the fuller practice, working on strength, mobility and concentration. Pilates focuses on deep muscles, posture and controlled movement. Total Body Workout is the hardest of the set, covering strength, endurance, coordination and muscle tone. Yoga Dance Flow is dynamic and links yoga with flowing movement. Restorative Yoga is slow and designed to help you recover — good after a day on your feet.

Because the classes are free for guests, you can try everything once and then stick to the ones you like, rather than committing to a fixed programme in advance.
