Home › Retreats › Wellness-Focused 200-Hour Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training in Goa
India · 25 days · From USD 854
The course runs over 25 days, with two yoga classes a day plus pranayama, philosophy, anatomy, and teaching practice. Mornings begin around 7am with prayer and a silent pranayama session, followed by a long asana practice focused on the primary series. You'll learn the full primary series with Sanskrit counting, hands-on adjustments, and proper alignment. The shala doesn't just push you through poses—each asana is explained in detail, and the practice is adjusted to your own body.
Philosophy is a big part of the training. You'll study the Yoga Sutras, Advaita Vedanta, and the Upanishads, and learn how to apply these ideas to daily life. There are also workshops on mantra chanting and yoga anatomy. The teaching is very hands-on, with plenty of practice teaching sessions where you'll teach real students under supervision.
The location is a big part of the experience. Agonda is known for its quiet beaches and forested hills, far from the party scene of North Goa. The shala is set among trees, with a view over the river and paddy fields, and the beach is just a 15-minute walk away. You'll share the space with a few resident dogs and cats, which guests often mention as a comfort.
This is an intensive, 200-hour course that will leave you ready to teach, but it also works for people who just want to deepen their practice, even if they don't plan to teach. Guest reviews frequently mention the high quality of the teaching and the warm, welcoming atmosphere. One reviewer, in her 60s, said she and her husband never felt out of place despite their age.
