Wellness & SUP Yoga Escape in Sicily with Cacao Ceremony

The retreat is built around balance. Mornings start with a meditation or pranayama session, followed by a yoga class that suits your level—whether you're a complete beginner or an advanced practitioner. The afternoon offers free time to explore the surroundings: you can bicycle to the pink saline lagoons, visit the kite-surfing hotspot of Lo Stagnone, or head to a sandy beach a short shuttle ride away. A second yoga class happens in the late afternoon or evening, and some days include a philosophy workshop where you'll learn about yoga's broader ideas, energy blockages, and practical tools for daily life.

The cacao ceremony is a highlight, often paired with a sound journey—a chance to go inward and connect with yourself. On one night, the hosts arrange an event like ecstatic dance or a movie night. Two of the four dinners are provided at the retreat, and two are free so you can sample local Sicilian restaurants in Marsala or along the lagoon.

The Place World itself is a converted family house surrounded by its own little forest, with a pool, a jacuzzi, a yoga shala, and a rooftop terrace that catches the sunset. It's small—just seven rooms and a maximum of 16 guests—so you'll likely get to know everyone. The hosts, Janina and Andrea, met in an ashram in India and created The Place to be a welcoming, community-focused retreat center. Janina teaches yoga and leads the cacao ceremonies; Andrea handles the kite surfing and water sports side. The vibe is relaxed and social, with a mix of ages and nationalities, and solo travelers feel at home quickly.
