Maldives · 7 days · From USD 2299
Seven days on Fulhadhoo island, in the Baa Atoll UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, is about as far from a corporate wellness retreat as you can get. The island has around 250 inhabitants, a couple of guesthouses, and beaches that are often completely empty. The whole thing is run by Nateea (Tia), a Californian-born teacher with Caribbean and German roots, who spent 11 years as a flight attendant before turning to yoga full-time. She teaches a mix of energizing Vinyasa flows, grounding Hatha, and deeply restorative Yin classes — all on the beach or under palm trees.
Days follow a gentle rhythm: sunrise yoga, breakfast, then free time to read, snorkel, or nap in a hammock. There are planned excursions too — manta ray snorkeling, dolphin watching and reef snorkeling, and seasonal workshops where you learn to weave palm leaves or make coconut oil. One afternoon, Tia runs a one-on-one meditation or walking meditation session. Most days end with a sunset Yin class and a dinner of fresh Maldivian, Indian, and Western dishes.
What makes this retreat special is that it is genuinely small and personal. Tia adapts every class to the level of the people in the room, and she goes out of her way to look after her guests. The accommodation is a simple guesthouse right on the beach, and meals are served at the Zen Inn restaurant. It is not a five-star resort — but the luxury here is waking up to the sound of waves, watching bioluminescent plankton light up the sand at night, and being welcomed into a community that is genuinely happy to see you.
The retreat has received glowing reviews from past guests, who specifically mention Tia's skill as a teacher, her ability to adapt to different levels, and the thoughtful surprises she prepares. Several guests say they saw real improvement in their practice in just one week.
