Winter Yoga Retreat in the Laurentians: Three Days of Slow Yoga, Sound and Snow

Quebec · 3 days · From CAD 720

The retreat runs from 5 to 7 March 2027, two nights and three days, at 2062 Chem. de la Gare in Val-Morin, Quebec. The setting is winter forest — the programme includes contemplative walks and stretches of silence outdoors, so bring boots and proper layers.

Practice happens in a yurt on site, with yoga mats and props provided. Sessions cover gentle Hatha, Yin yoga and somatic movement, plus conscious breathing, meditation and Yoga Nidra. A sound bath with Tibetan bowls, gongs and intuitive instruments is one of the centrepieces, and there is a dry sauna in a sweat lodge.

Beyond the mat there is an art and journalling workshop, a cocoa ceremony and an intentions ritual timed to the moon. The page lists free time, reading and rest as part of the programme rather than an afterthought, which tells you something about the pace.

Food is vegetarian and the kitchen caters for gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free and lactose-free diets. Six meals are included across the stay.

Priya Selvarasa founded Prana Yoga Shala and teaches Yin, Hatha, Pranayama and trauma-sensitive yoga. She was raised around yoga and ayurveda and runs retreats internationally. Guest reviews on the page praise her for holding the space calmly and for the quality of the vegetarian meals.

What separates this from a generic yoga weekend is the winter framing and the mix — sound work, sauna, cocoa ritual and art alongside the asana. It is also priced and structured as a short, local break rather than a week-long destination trip.
