Women's Wellness Weekend Retreat on a Prairie Farmhouse Near Chicago

Women's Wellness Weekend Retreat on a Prairie Farmhouse Near Chicago

United States · 3 days · From USD 142

The retreat opens with a Friday evening arrival, setting a calm tone for the weekend. Over the next two days, guests take part in flow, alignment, and restorative yoga sessions designed to release tension and quiet the mind. These are gentle, accessible classes that suit all levels—one reviewer noted the yoga is basic, so it's not for those seeking an intense physical practice. Alongside yoga, there are InterPlay workshops, which use storytelling, movement, and sound to help people connect and laugh together in a supportive group. Creative writing and journaling sessions offer a quieter way to explore your inner world, while the community sharing evening invites everyone to bring a talent, story, or passion to lift up and celebrate.

The setting itself is a big part of the experience. A 40-acre property with native prairie, an organic garden, a winding creek, and ancient oaks and maples provides a beautiful backdrop for self-guided nature walks, stargazing, and campfires (weather permitting). There's generous unstructured time built into the schedule, so you can walk, read, rest, or just sit and look at the view.

Diane Rawlinson, the host, is a retired dance and yoga teacher with more than 40 years of experience. She trained in dance education at Ohio State University, holds an MFA from UW-Madison, and is a registered Experienced Yoga Teacher (ERYT) with a 300-hour certification from Swastha International in Costa Rica. She's also been a certified InterPlay leader for over 30 years. Her teaching style is individualized and centered on somatic, alignment-based practices, making each session feel personal and supportive.

This is the eighth time Diane has hosted this retreat, and each one takes on its own character based on the women who attend. The group is inter-generational, with past participants ranging from 19 to 67. Most attend solo, and the atmosphere is welcoming, warm, and informal. While it's not a sober retreat, alcohol isn't provided, keeping the focus on connection and well-being.
