Home › Retreats › Women's Surf & Yoga Escape in Puerto Rico: 6 Nights of Waves, Breathwork and Beachside Villas
Puerto Rico · 7 days · From EUR 2340
The retreat runs Saturday to Friday across 6 nights and 5 full days. Mornings start early to catch the best of the swell, usually with a light breakfast and coffee before loading up for the break. Coaches pick the spot based on conditions — the breaks around Isabela are a mix of reef and sand, and the team recommends packing booties if you'd rather protect your feet. After the first session there's breakfast back at the villa, then a yoga class. Afternoons hold the second surf session, video review, and one of the workshops or breathwork sessions; the schedule shifts with the tide and the swell, so no two days run identically.
The yoga is the part that surprises people. It's not a generic vinyasa class bolted onto a surf trip — the sessions were built by surfers specifically for surfers, blending restorative and yin yoga to work on the paddling muscles, open the chest and hips, and settle the nervous system after time in the water. You'll notice the difference by day three, when your shoulders stop complaining.
Coaching is the core of the week and the reason the group stays small. The instruction is patient and hands-on: the team works with complete beginners through to women surfing at an intermediate level, and the 2:1 surfer-to-instructor ratio means someone is always watching your takeoff, your stance and your positioning. Daily video analysis is included, which is the fastest way to see what you're actually doing versus what you think you're doing. Expect a fair amount of hooting from the coaches and the other women when you stand up.
CampoMar Villas sits on a private road that dead-ends under a limestone cliff, with five villas arranged around the pool and tropical gardens. Each villa has air conditioning, a kitchen, queen rooms and shared living space, ranging from one to three bedrooms. Shacks Beach is a short walk away, and all meals are served in Villa #1 across from the pool. Free time is genuinely free — the pool, the gazebo and the garden are open to guests, and there's no pressure to fill every hour.
The food is cooked by local chefs and leans on what's in season: fresh tropical fruit and produce, locally caught fish, and whatever local speciality is at its best that week. Drinks are included except alcohol. If you have dietary restrictions, the team asks you to flag them before arrival so they can plan around them.
Getting there is straightforward. From San Juan Airport (SJU) it's about a two-hour shuttle, which usually departs around 3:00 pm — aim for a midday flight. From Aguadilla (BQN) it's only ten minutes, and shuttles can be arranged around your flight times. On departure day the shuttle leaves for SJU in the morning, typically around 8:00 am, and check-out is 11:00 am.
