Haven is a venue, not a fixed programme. Groups book the whole house and run their own schedule. A yoga teacher might bring 16 students for a long weekend of morning flow and evening sound baths. A company might use it for a team offsite with workshops in the garden and dinners around one big table. The setup suits both.
The dance hall is the centre of the house. It dates from the 1920s and has been restored. It's big enough for a full group class and comes fully equipped with props, which makes it easy to run yoga, meditation and sound bath sessions without extra gear.
Food is up to the group. There are two fully equipped kitchens, and one sits discreetly behind the dining room so a private chef can cook without being in the middle of things. Many groups hire a chef for the stay. Others cook together.
The sauna is in the converted boathouse in the garden. It has a reading room next to it, a rain shower, underfloor heating and a garden terrace, so a sauna round can easily turn into an afternoon with a book.
The house is in the West Havelland Nature Park in Brandenburg, an area of river, wetland and open countryside west of Berlin. The Havel River is a short walk through the village, and swimming there is one of the simplest pleasures of a summer stay. The garden changes through the seasons and has room for outdoor workshops, shared meals or time alone.
What sets Haven apart from a typical rural rental is that it is built for retreats. It has a dedicated practice hall with props, separate rooms for teachers, a chef-friendly kitchen layout and a sauna. All bedding, towels and linens are provided too.
