Yoga and Wine Week in the Quercy Countryside, Southwest France

France · 8 days · From USD 2450

Domaine du Rodier sits in the Quercy, a stretch of rolling hills, sunflower fields and stone villages that locals call the Italy of France. The chateau dates from the 15th century and has twelve en-suite bedrooms, all renovated, all with king beds that split into twins. The grounds run to 75 acres with landscaped gardens and long views over vineyards and farmland. On site: a 15-metre heated pool, tennis court, hot tub, snooker table and outdoor table tennis.

Sommer and Paul Sobin have taught yoga, meditation and tantric philosophy for more than 25 years and have led retreats in Italy, Sardinia, Greece and Costa Rica. This is their first in France. They teach together and give hands-on adjustments. Morning classes are Hatha with Dharma themes, alignment work, pranayama, meditation and deep relaxation. Afternoon classes are grounding asanas, Yoga Nidra and restorative work, plus group discussion. Both are open to beginners and experienced students alike.

The yoga space was recently renovated and comes stocked with mats, blocks, belts and blankets, so you don't need to pack props. The group is limited to 24, which keeps the classes small enough for real adjustments.

Food is a big part of the week. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all included and cooked from organic produce bought at nearby farmers' markets — vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options at every meal. Wine is poured with dinner. One lunch is a wine tasting at a vineyard in the region.

Free time is genuinely free. The page lists cycling, horse riding, zip lining in the forest, boating on the Lot, kayaking, cave visits and water parks as optional extras you can book locally. Closer to home, there are markets, medieval villages and walking routes straight from the estate. Two afternoons are left completely unscheduled.
