Yoga, Ayurveda & Stillness Retreat in Goa

Yoga, Ayurveda & Stillness Retreat in Goa

India · 3 days · From USD 119

The retreat is built around a simple daily rhythm that balances structured practice with downtime. Mornings start with traditional yogic cleansing practices (shat-kriyas) before moving into pranayama and a Hatha yoga asana session. After breakfast, there's a lecture or discussion on yogic philosophy or Ayurveda, or an excursion into the local area. Afternoons are mostly free for rest, journaling, or reading, with a meditation session in the late afternoon. Evenings rotate between Tratak (candle gazing), Yoga Nidra, and a cooking class, before dinner and an early night. This structure gives you enough routine to feel grounded, but also enough freedom to enjoy Goa's relaxed pace.

The retreat is different from a standard yoga holiday because it weaves in the deeper traditions. You'll get a real introduction to Ayurvedic principles and yoga philosophy from the resident teachers, not just a daily workout. The morning cleansing practices are a genuine part of the experience, not just a box to tick. And because the group is small (up to 20, usually fewer), you can ask questions and go deeper into whatever interests you.

Shanti MIZU sits in Mandrem, one of North Goa's quieter villages, surrounded by palm trees and paddy fields, a short walk from the beach. The centre has simple, clean rooms, a garden, and a yoga shala. It's run by Ashwin, who also does the cooking, and a small team of facilitators including Ms. Ayushi, a 500-hour Yoga Alliance certified teacher from Rishikesh. The whole place feels more like staying with friends than at a resort.

The food deserves a mention of its own. All meals are vegetarian and vegan, made fresh daily, with a focus on simple, nourishing ingredients. Expect dishes like dal, seasonal vegetable curries, rice, salads, and chapati, all lightly spiced and easy to digest. There's a cooking class on the schedule for at least one evening, so you can learn to recreate some of the dishes at home.
