Yoga & Herbal Healing Retreat in the Allgäu Alps, Germany

Germany · 6 days · From USD 1199

Each day here has a similar shape. You're up for pranayama and meditation at 7am, either inside or out depending on the weather. At 7.30am comes Healing Yin Yoga and yoga therapy, often held outside when it's warm enough. Breakfast is a buffet at 9am. Lunch is a light soup-and-snack affair from 12 to 1.30pm on four of the days. The herbal medicine workshop runs from 2pm and covers seven hours across the retreat. There's another yoga session or evening meditation at 5pm, and the gourmet buffet dinner is at 7pm. Sauna and massage slots are open in the late afternoon and evening.

What makes this different from a standard yoga week is the herbal medicine component. It's taught by Gonull Devecioglu, who has trained in herbal medicine and built the workshop around the hotel's own herb garden. You're not just learning theory — you're working with plants that grow on site. The retreat also includes a 7-hour workshop, which is a substantial chunk of the week, so it's a real part of the programme rather than an add-on.

Gonull leads most of the yoga. She teaches Hatha, Yin, Aerial and Restorative, and works as a hypnotherapist and life coach. Her teaching leans towards the therapeutic end — yoga therapy sessions are part of the daily schedule, and the style is gentle and deep rather than fast. Hari Pawali, who founded Shree Hari Yoga School in Dharamshala in 2013, is also part of the retreat. His background is in the Nath tradition and Bhakti Yoga, and he grew up in Nepal. He's there as a teacher and as an anchor for the group.

The hotel, Der Bären, sits in Eisenberg-Zell in the Allgäu, surrounded by meadows and mountains. It has its own herb garden, a wellness area with sauna, and free Wi-Fi throughout. Meals are included: a breakfast buffet daily, light lunch on four days, and a gourmet buffet on five evenings, with Grander water and soft drinks available from noon to 8pm. The nearest train station is Füssen, about 15km away, and it's easiest to arrive by car — there's parking on site.

Two dates run in 2026: 19–24 July and 23–28 August. Each is six days and five nights, and prices start at €1,199 per person. That covers accommodation, meals, the full yoga and herbal programme, and the Urkraft massage. Places are limited, so it's worth enquiring early if you're interested.
