Normafa sat on Buda Hill, the wooded high ground on the west side of Budapest, looking down over the city. Budapest is reachable by car, train or plane from most of Europe within a few hours, so the centre drew guests looking for a short break rather than a long-haul trip.
A normal day had a yoga session in the morning and a sound bath in the evening, with other yoga and meditation-style sessions during the day. The programmes were aimed at people dealing with stress, career problems or relationship difficulties, as well as people who simply wanted rest.
The Thursday-to-Sunday full-day programme was the more structured option, with sessions running through the whole day instead of just the morning and evening.
What set the place apart from a typical city yoga hotel was the facilities: a domed yoga space, a panoramic sauna, an outdoor-style cold plunge and hot tub, a pool, and a cryosauna for sore muscles. Rooms were laid out using Vastu shastra principles, with natural materials and a strong link to the trees outside.
