200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training in Chiang Mai's Rice Fields, Thailand

Chiang Mai · 25 days · From USD 2997 (indicative)

The training runs 13 July to 6 August 2027 at Mala Dhara Eco Retreat, Chiang Mai, Thailand. It is led by Willow Gardens Yoga, a studio with locations in Buda and Lockhart, Texas, and the certificate comes from Willow Gardens Yoga. Hours earned count toward Yoga Alliance requirements and as continuing education for teachers already registered.

A typical day combines a yoga session with meditation or breathwork, then moves into workshops: anatomy, alignment, posture study, Vinyasa sequencing. There is practice teaching with personal feedback, which is how you build the confidence to actually stand in front of a class. The rest of the day is yours — the schedule leaves breaks for resting, studying or talking to the other trainees.

The content covers yoga philosophy, anatomy, alignment, breathwork, meditation and Vinyasa sequencing, with daily practice running through all of it. The page also mentions traditional Ashtanga, so expect that to feature in the practice sessions.

What separates this from a training held in a city studio is the setting. Mala Dhara is an eco-farm outside Chiang Mai with open-air shalas, rice fields, mountain views and a saltwater pool. Meals are plant-based and farm-to-table. The clay-and-bamboo villas are on the same grounds, so you walk from your room to the shala.

Two instructors lead it. Kerrie Kelsey is Director of Yoga Teacher Training at Willow Gardens and an E-500 teacher with over 1,500 hours of in-studio teaching. Dr Raelynn Deaton Haynes owns Willow Gardens, is an E-RYT 500 teacher and certified Barre and Pilates instructor, and teaches anatomy at Texas State University.
