Greece · 9 days · From EUR 150
The retreat follows the pattern of the earlier summer weeks Ranko has run in Pilion: Mysore classes every morning, a led class on the last morning before everyone leaves, and afternoon sessions covering the elements, theory and philosophy of Ashtanga Yoga, with discussion, questions and answers, pranayama, chanting, mantra and meditation.
Mysore-style practice means you work through the sequence at your own pace while the teacher moves around the room giving adjustments and individual instruction. It suits people who already have some Ashtanga experience, but the format also lets a teacher work with beginners one to one rather than pushing everyone through the same led sequence.
Vairagya Ranko Stoiljković is the owner and director of Ashtanga Yoga Belgrade. He first stayed at the Ashtanga Yoga Institute in Mysore, India in 2008 for two months, where he began training with Sri R. Sharath Jois, the institute's director, and with Sri Saraswati Rangaswami. In January 2016 he was authorised for the Second Level by Sri Sharath Jois. He has taught guest slots at retreats abroad, including an Ashtanga Yoga retreat with Max Czenszak in Antoniow, Poland in 2017.
The setting is Papa Nero beach at Mouressi in Pilion, on the coast of mainland Greece. Accommodation is at Hostel Katerina, which sits by the beach. Days are structured around practice and study, with the beach and the sea filling the gaps.
